severance and unemployment payments in Texas

  • What's the deal with the recent changes in the package that result in the loss of unemployment insurance across all 50 states? In the past, there was some confusion surrounding whether receiving "pay in-lieu of notice," like the initial 60-days pay, would affect immediate eligibility for unemployment insurance or require a waiting period in North Carolina (NC). However, based on my knowledge, when I filed my claim and others I know at NC Cisco did the same, the claims were only delayed for the standard 2-week waiting period that applies to all unemployment insurance claims. As far as I know, every NC Cisco employee who filed for unemployment insurance immediately started receiving checks after the 2-week period.
